Greene Countrie and Greene Countrie Village are 2 Newtown Square developments that include both condos and townhouses. They were built in the 1960s and early 1970s. They are located next to each other and share some amenities. Many, myself included, simply refer to the 2 developments as 'Greene Countrie' as there is little to distinguish them. There is a current controversy in Summer of 2018 regarding the removal of the dam that created Earle's Lake. See this article for more information.
Pros
Located in a beautiful area adjacent to Earle's Lake in Newtown Square. There are tall trees that cast plenty of shade, lots of other greenery and wide roads with little traffic. It's quiet and peaceful.
At $175k - $225k and considering the amenities and surroundings and the homes themselves, these properties are a bargain
Children attend the top rated schools of the Marple Newtown School District
Amenities exceed those offered by similarly priced and many more expensive developments
All units have a patio or deck. Some also have a balcony
Saw Mill Park, which includes fishable Little Darby Creek, and the Willows Preserve are less than 5 minutes drive
Cons
The monthly HOA of $460 is fairly steep though it does include exterior maintenance of the buildings and significant amenities
There are no basements so there is less storage space than competing developments
Some of the stucco is looking dirty and could stand a paint job
