It is low key, more of a village than a town. Like neighboring Bryn Mawr and Haverford, Gladwyne contains much natural beauty. Dove Lake is partially in Gladwyne and Mill Creek runs through it. The Schuykill river borders the town on 2 sides as does the Philadelphia Expressway (Rte. 76).

Children living in Gladwyne can attend the public schools of Lower Merion Township, ranked 12th out of 553 districts in the state, or the numerous private schools located nearby.

The Philadelphia Country Club, known for its golf course but also including tennis and squash courts, a shooting range and other facilities, is located in Gladwyne. Historic sites abound in Gladwyne including the 1690 house, the oldest standing structure in Lower Merion Township, and Saunders Woods.

Shopping needs beyond the essentials can be fulfilled in Ardmore's Suburban Square or in Bryn Mawr. The King of Prussia Mall, 15 minutes away, offers world-class shopping and Philadelphia, 20 minutes away, is home to Jeweler's Row, a collection of jewelry manufacturers and retailers, if that is your interest.
